My favorite Elon Tradition would definitely be the tradition of receiving an acorn at first-year convocation, and then an oak sapling at graduation. I think that it is such a cool representation of how we grow as individuals while we are at Elon!
My most memorable Elon experience so far has probably been the InterVarsity beach retreat I went on as a first-year! In the fall of 2017, I went on a beach retreat to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where myself and 60 other Elon students spent a long weekend together bonding as a youth group. It was a really awesome way to make new friends as a first-year and was just overall so much fun.
I chose Elon because it was truly the perfect fit for me. As I began to research colleges in high school, I knew right away that I wanted to go somewhere that wasn't too big but also wasn't too small. I quickly found out that Elon was just that! Another big reason that I chose Elon was for the student to faculty ratio. While some students thrive in large lecture halls, I knew that I would thrive in a much smaller class setting instead, where the professor not only knew my name but really cared about me. Lastly, one of the big reasons I chose Elon was for the welcoming vibe that I felt whenever I stepped on campus! When visiting campus I always felt this sense of acceptance and that the students who went to Elon were really down to earth.
