My favorite Elon tradition is the annual Holiday Celebration hosted by the University President. Our president, Dr. Book, invites all students to a celebration just before finals, where students can chat with one another, eat delicious food, and even take a picture with Dr. Book! This is my favorite Elon tradition because it shows how caring Elon is to its students. Not all college students have the to opportunity to make a personal connection with their University President and I think that is an exceptionally unique quality Elon has.
My most memorable Elon experience has been aiding the transition for new students as an Orientation Leader. This experience means a lot to me because I truly enjoy helping others and having an impact on other peoples' time Elon. It was extremely rewarding to help new students feel the love and passion for Elon that I have. Being an Orientation Leader also had a very positive impact on my own personal growth. The experience helped me gain more confidence, social skills, and empathy, and I will be forever grateful for that. I made so many meaningful connections with my peers that I will cherish for the rest of my time at Elon.
As the daughter of an alum, I did not chose Elon for that reason. Rather, I chose Elon because I felt that it was an institution that would actually care about me not only as a student but as a person. I truly admired the incredible mutual respect and care between students, faculty, and staff. I could tell that this campus is special because of how kind and involved all members of the community are. I chose Elon because of all the wonderful opportunities it offers to its students such as study abroad, internships, and service to name a few. I knew that Elon would gift me with life changing experiences that would help me grow intellectually and socially.
