My most memorable Elon experience was studying abroad in Jamkhed, India over my sophomore Winter Term. I spent 3 weeks taking my Public Health Practicum in rural India at the Comprehensive Rural Health Project. This experience was one of a kind, and I would not have had this opportunity if I was not motivated to apply for the program by one of my professors. I formed such close bonds with the other students on my trip and both of my professors, and I also learned so much about the culture and healthcare system of India.
I had the perfect feeling the second I stepped on campus for my tour. I applied to Elon right before the January deadline, as I felt unhappy and unsatisfied with my other college options. On my tour, I realized that Elon was everything I wanted and more. The small class sizes, distance from home, and student/faculty relationships were just some of the things I loved about the school. Elon is a place where the students are passionate and involved, and the faculty are very supportive and have personal relationships with their students.
My favorite Elon Tradition is the Luminaries. The whole Elon Community gathers to celebrate the holiday season, and we get to watch our beautiful campus be decked out with lights and other decorations. The Luminiaries does not focus on one religion or holiday but instead focuses on different religions and cultures, making it a fun but educational experience.
