I chose Elon because I love homey feeling it brings. I always believed I wanted to go to a big school, but when I toured Elon and saw how passionate everyone was about their education and time here, I knew it was the place for me. I felt very welcomed by all the students and professors and the sense of community the university brings. Elon has many opportunities other schools do not such as endless travel abroad and internship opportunities. Additionally, I was chosen to be a Business Fellow, which adds extra academic rigor while creating a close cohort and community. I knew that community to Elon would not only challenge me, but also allow me to succeed.
My favorite Elon tradition is the Festival of Lights because it is a great way to learn about many different cultures and celebrate the end of the first semester. I enjoy seeing the community come together while looking at all of the lights and listening to the acapella groups.
My most memorable experience was one day during my first semester where my friends and I were all outside sitting in hammocks. Although this may have just looked like an ordinary day, it felt like I was at my sleepaway camp. As someone who has been attending sleepaway camp for 10 years and now works there, in this moment Elon truly felt like another home away from home. I knew I had friends who I can count on whenever I need them.
