The receiving of acorns at the start of our journey at Elon a then the sapling at graduation. As a writer I love symbolism and I think the acorn tradition gives new student something tangible to relate to their new journey that is also rooted in the school's history as well. It's a really beautiful and special tradition here that represents the personal connections students will find in their time here.
My most memorable experience at Elon would be a fake tour that I went on with my friends in the fall semester of my freshman year. A friend- who is also now a tour guide- led myself and my friends around campus on an impromptu tour one night. While we weren't learning much about campus, we were getting to know one another and really bond especially over the fact that we had actually made it to college. That night was the night I realized I had found my home and my people for the next four years.
I chose Elon because of community. The school advertises a personal, active, and caring community on campus, and it is absolutely true. I have been able to build connections with students and teachers I believe I wouldn't have had at a larger school. Elon truly cares about its students and fosters an amazing community.
