My most memorable Elon experience was my first Festival of Lights and Luminaries. I was able to help set up some of the luminaries, but I had no idea how incredible it would look when they were all lit up at night. It was so fun to walk under the oaks with my roommates, searching for our names and taking pictures. There were tables set up to learn about different holiday traditions from a variety of cultures, activities for students, and hot chocolate! I remember pausing on our walk to listen to a performance from one of our campus Acapella groups, and I realized that I was sitting next to President Book. It made me so happy to see how engaged our President is with our campus traditions, creating a memory that I know will last a lifetime.
I chose Elon because it felt like a place that I could call home. I knew I wanted to get involved on campus and I was blown away by how many opportunities there are to do so at Elon, whether by joining a club, attending any of the awesome events always taking place on campus, and so much more. I loved how accessible the professors are to students, with small class sizes, flexible office hours, and opportunities for casual conversations that make me feel valued as a student and allow me to pursue my passions to the fullest. I remember taking some time after my tour of Elon to walk campus a few steps ahead of my family, and I really felt like I could see myself as a student here, which is a feeling I didn't quite find anywhere else.
My favorite Elon Tradition is College Coffee because it's a great way to start your day each Tuesday with complementary coffee and pastries. I love being able to meet up with my friends and professors in a casual setting, and it's awesome to see campus organizations tabling to promote various activities, events, and resources on campus (especially when they do giveaways!).
