I chose Elon because of the close-knit community that was incredibly evident in my tour as a perspective student. I kept hearing students yell from across the greens: “COME TO ELON!” Normally, someone might be a little freaked out or intimidated by random people yelling at them to attend a university that they are visiting for the first time, but I was not. I was so in awe of the sense of community (something I was searching for in a college but I had not found) and I immediately knew that Elon was the place for me. Even though I was a guest touring Elon, in that moment, I felt like I was a part of the campus and a fellow classmate to those students.
My favorite Elon Tradition is homecoming weekend because as a legacy at Elon, I love being able to experience homecoming weekend with my dad. Spending time with him and his friends at the homecoming football game has shown me the legacy of Elon's community and how Elon inspires these close relationships in every generation.
My most memorable Elon experience was more so a period of time versus a specific moment. My sophomore year, I was nominated and elected as the Assistant New Member Educator for my sorority, where I helped educate new members about the history and rituals of the sorority in preparation for initiation. Being able to bring the entire pledge class together for a common goal was something that truly inspired me because I was able to experience the effect that mentorship has on a group of people. I loved that I was able to form a close relationship with a group of people and be a role model to them during their college experience. This role is what ultimately inspired me to be an Orientation Leader at Elon and get more involved in roles where I can serve as a mentor to people.
