Tour Guide at Elon University
Class of 2019
Hometown: Appleton, WI
Secondary Major: Finance
During my sophomore Spring Break, instead of going on vacation for the week, I traveled to Jamaica and co-coordinated an alternative break service program. We spent our week serving at Mustard Seed Communities at an orphanage for disabled children. Although the week forced me far outside my comfort zone, I learned so much by humbling myself and serving those that our society often rejects.
The Luminaries/Festival of Holiday Lights is my favorite Elon tradition. Christmas is my favorite holiday so I love coming to watch all of the holiday lights light up on the main quad all at once. Plus, who doesn't love Christmas carols, tacky Christmas sweaters, and free hot chocolate?
I love Elon's size. At 6,000 undergraduate students, Elon is a perfect balance between big and small. Elon is big enough to have an incredible amount of resources and staff eager to assist students however they can, but Elon is also small enough to maintain the feeling of a close-knit community. I can't walk around campus without seeing someone I know but I'm also always meeting new people!
