Lights & Luminaries! Winter at Elon is my favorite time of year, and the Lights & Luminaries Festival is a wonderful time to get together with friends and enjoy the Christmas lights and lanterns around campus. There's always hot chocolate to keep people warm, and there are a few student groups that sing carols in the Academic Pavilion. The festival is just a cheery, bright ending to the year before we all head off for Winter Break.
I chose Elon because the students seemed genuinely happy here. I wanted somewhere that would push me academically and intellectually, provide resources for my future and professional development, and also a place where I would be happy and valued. When I toured, the students around me seemed happy, and they all made eye contact and smiled when I interacted with them. That made a lasting impression, and ultimately became the reason I chose Elon at the end of my college admissions journey.
My most memorable Elon experience is probably my first rugby game with the Women's Club Rugby team. I was super nervous and excited, but the team really encouraged and believed in me, and I had a great time. We even ended up winning!
