Receiving an acorn after convocation freshman year and a sapling after graduation because it embodies the ideals of Elon and represents the beautiful oaks around campus. I love how both events signal the beginning and end of our Elon careers and symbolize our growth as students and people during our time at Elon. The oaks on campus are an important part of what makes this school so special and having my own piece of them is very special.
The sense of community here is incredible. Everyone is happy to be here and wants you to be happy here as well. There is so much support from other students, faculty, and staff. It's hard not to build genuine connections with others. I felt like apart of the Elon community before I ever stepped on campus and I am lucky to be a part of it everyday.
Traveling to Washington DC with my College Fellows cohort during Winter Term last year. We became a close group and had so much fun exploring the city. I was able to meet and talk to amazing Elon students I hadn't really interacted with before and hear about their plans for the future. Everyone is motivated and interested in different paths and it is always inspiring and reaffirming to see your peers striving for a higher level of excellence. We learned and pushed each other as a group and had an experience that is very unique to Elon and our program. I'm very jealous of the first years going this January!
