One of my favorite moments at Elon was working the Election Night show for ENN during the 2020 election. Although it was a crazy and stressful night it was an incredible reminder of the great opportunities that Elon has to offer, even for beginners. My friend and I signed up to volunteer for the show, as we are both journalism majors, and were quickly tasked with running all the camera operations in the School of Communications atrium. We spent the entire night (until 2 a.m. to be exact) helping with the show, and essentially learning on the job. When I think about this experience at Elon, I am reminded of the incredible, experiential learning opportunities everyone is afforded on our campus, and this is just one example that I have experienced. So many of our young students are able to get hands-on experience with professional level opportunities that a lot of other schools don’t necessarily have and I think that is exactly what has made most of my Elon experiences so memorable and special.
My favorite Elon tradition is College Coffee because it is so unique to our campus and a great opportunity to further connect with peers and professors. I love that this is a designated time, every week when classes pause and everyone can come together and socialize. I always do my best to attend College Coffee and talk to different people on campus who I normally don't get to hang out with. This is such a special tradition for everyone on campus and it is something most college students don't get to experience!
I chose Elon because from the moment I stepped on campus I could tell this was a unique campus. The opportunities that students have here are so special, and it was clear that everyone is recognized and has their place on campus. The welcoming and supportive environment is so easily felt here and the wonderful traditions and spirit that lives at Elon is truly unlike anywhere else. I chose this school because it felt like a great place to transition after high school and I can honestly say that it has felt like the best home for the past three years. I had such a great feeling when I toured Elon and it certainly has not disappointed!
