By far my most memorable Elon experience was move-in day. I don't think I have ever been as nervous and excited for anything in my entire life. The second my car door opened to unload my car, I had people around me wanting to help my parents and making me feel right at home. My parents often say they couldn't even be upset when saying goodbye because they could see how happy and excited I was to be there, and I will never forget that feeling.
I chose Elon because from the second I applied, they treated my as if I was a part of the Elon family. Whether it was the admissions counselors, other students, or the campus itself, it was the one place I found that stuck out as being "home" to me. I was just a number or another candidate to so many other schools, but to Elon I was more than that and it showed greatly. That has remained true since I committed to Elon and has left such a lasting impact on me that that's why I am working for the admissions office as a tour guide.
My favorite tradition is the lighting of the Luminaries at Christmastime. It's a huge lighting ceremony around Christmas, with lights decorating a majority of campus and thousand of luminaries lining the brick walkways. It's great because a huge portion of campus comes together to celebrate the special holiday season and shows how important the sense of community is at Elon.
