My favorite Elon Tradition is .... Because...

My favorite Elon tradition is our New Student Convocation, where we welcome the new students to campus as official Elon students. During my time at Elon, I have attended this yearly tradition four times, once as a new student myself, and three more times in support of the younger classes. I really enjoy this tradition because it helps to remind me what it means to truly be an Elon student, the privilege that comes with it, and to take full advantage of the opportunities the next year will present. It takes place "Under the Oaks" which is one of my favorite spots on campus.

I chose Elon because...

Elon has been a home for much longer than I have been a student. My Dad remarried during my 8th grade year to my step-mom who is a professor in the school of communications at Elon. Each summer after, I would travel to North Carolina and spend a significant amount of time in the Elon area, and I developed a deep sense of connection to this university at a very young age. It has been home and will continue to be home after I graduate in May. The community, opportunities, study abroad, and faculty on campus all help to create a unique experience for each person, and that is why I chose Elon.

My most memorable Elon experience?

My most memorable (and impactful) Elon experience would be one of the First Summer Experience programs called Adventures in Leadership. All FSE programs take place over the summer prior to the start of your first year, and Adventures in Leadership was the one I decided to participate in. The friendships, confidence, and (then) newly ignited passion for leadership and connecting with other people is truly the foundation I have built my Elon career on top of. AIL helped me to come out of my shell, realize new things about myself, learn the love of the outdoors, and become the person I am today.
