It was an easy decision for me because after visiting Elon, I kept comparing every other school I toured to it. Elon became my gold standard. The student-teacher ratio, comprehensive liberal arts experience, countless opportunities, and genuine support that the community gives each of its students proved to me that Elon was, and is, my ideal school.
One of my favorite Elon experiences so far was during the Spring of my first year. I’m from Northern Virginia, just outside of D.C., and I knew I wasn’t going to be home for D.C.’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival, which was making me pretty homesick. One morning, while the festival was taking place 300 miles away, I woke up to a cherry blossom tree that had bloomed overnight right outside of my dorm window. It reminded me that home is where you grow your own roots.
My favorite Elon Tradition is S’mores Outdoors! Elon Outdoors hosts this event every Wednesday, and it’s always a great chance to take a break from studying (especially since it’s just across the quad from the library) to hang out with friends around a fire pit, listen to music, and enjoy the s’mores!
