I was taking a class in Hawai’i when the state was notified with a missile attack. I woke up to this frightening alarm on my phone. The next 42 minutes were fragile, my mind in hysteria and disbelief. Though a false alarm, the rest of the day was covered in a haze I can only explain as supernatural. After talking about this event with fellow students, I can confirm that this extreme low has changed into a beneficial learning experience. I take every day one day at a time, appreciating the beauty and serenity of nature and humankind. Respect one another and just be friendly; it's not difficult.
I love homecoming weekend. Witnessing the large alumni attendance is inspiring. I was able to talk with alumni who were pursuing/practicing a health profession for an entire day. I now have a better idea of my future aspirations as I enter my senior year.
I knew I was going to major in a natural science of some kind, regardless of institution. The fact that Elon offers a liberal arts education with an emphasis on interdisciplinary studies was the deciding factor. At Elon, I’m able to effectively and publicly disseminate scientific knowledge to large populations, a skill indicative of a university that prides itself on communication and engagement.
