My most memorable experience at Elon has to be when I first moved into my freshman dorm. I will NEVER forget how nervous I was!! Living at Elon was going to be my first time ever living in the U.S, so when my parents dropped me off I was definitely a little scared. Scared that I wouldn't make any friends or that I would have a hard time fitting in. Boy, was I wrong! I quickly starting meeting some of my best friends on my hall and even people who had similar overseas backgrounds!! Everyone was so accepting and so friendly, it made my transition into freshman year a very positive experience for me as my love for Elon continued to grow!
My favorite Elon tradition is College Coffee!! Although I am unfortunately not a coffee lover, I do love this tradition! I love how unique it is to our campus life and how I run into a ton of friends and professors whenever I go. It's a great way to catch up with old professors or talk to current ones, and just starting your morning off right! It’s allowed me to run into familiar faces from my freshman and sophomore year that I don’t get to see as often. I love that it's a time where no classes are held so all faculty, staff, and students are able to attend. Also, if you're not a coffee lover like me, there is always a good selection of breakfast goods ;)
I chose Elon for a multitude of reasons but mainly because when I first walked onto campus I had the “feeling” that everyone talks about. I knew when I went off to college that my immediate family would still be overseas, so I was looking in states where I had extended family (one of them being North Carolina). I also remember Elon coming to my high school in Kuala Lumpur and absolutely loving the international admission counselor I met and everything she had to say about Elon. When it came time to apply, Elon was the only school I had my heart set on. So I applied early decision and here I am!! So happy because Elon has just exceeded my expectations and I know I made the right decision!
