I chose Elon because...

I loved the opportunities that Elon promised to provide, such as study abroad, internships, and service learning. I wanted a close-knit community, and between the faculty-student ratio and medium size, I knew Elon would provide that for me, and it has. When I was touring colleges and making my final decision, my mom said, "At any college you will grow, but you have to choose the place you will bloom." That helped me decide on Elon, and I am so so happy I did because I can't picture myself anywhere else today.

My favorite Elon Tradition is .... Because...

I definitely love the Luminaries tradition at Elon. Between the holiday lights, music, and all of my friends gathered together in the cold, it truly felt like Christmas. As a first year, it is difficult to be away from your family for a long period of time, most likely for the first time in your life. This tradition made Elon feel even more like home for me, and that feeling is irreplaceable.

My most memorable Elon experience?

It sounds strange, but one experience that really stuck with me was move-in day. I was honestly scared to leave home, but as I pulled into campus, I was immediately filled with a sense of belonging and happiness. The people greeting me were so cheerful, and some current students even helped me move all of my stuff up to the third floor. I didn’t feel overwhelmed at any moment; I just felt excited, and that was so surprising to me. It felt like home right away, and something that I dreaded for so long ended up being one of my happiest moments here.
