My favorite Elon tradition is the Holi Festival that is held every year. Holi is a Hindu holiday, and I really enjoy seeing Elon students learn about the holiday's history. The desire to understand different cultures is something that I love seeing in Elon students. Afterwards, everyone celebrates by throwing color powder everywhere. It is a beautiful, fun, and meaningful experience for everyone involved.
My sophomore year, my roommates and I decided to have a barbecue outside one of the student centers on campus. As time went on, more and more people started to join us in cooking and eating. Some of them were friends, but others were people we'd never met before. The plan of having a meal with my four roommates turned into a small neighborhood gathering, and that is something I won't ever forget.
As an out of state student, I was worried about being away from my family and friends. Each time I visited Elon, the students and staff members were warm and welcoming beyond belief. It gave me confidence that I wouldn't struggle finding the right people here.
